Iva Lazarova, Executive Director of IPED, and Diana Eftimova, Chair of the IPED Board, are in Brussels this week to attend the FURIC conference organized by the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE).
An unprecedented number of elections were organized around the world in 2024. However, they were marked by doubts about their fairness, disinformation, cyber-attacks, and foreign interference. With this in mind, the initiative aims to identify methods to strengthen democratic electoral standards by promoting interaction between national and international election observers.
Over the next few days, representatives of the IPED will participate in meetings related to improving the monitoring of the use of information and
communication technologies in elections, discussing the methodology for conducting independent observation, options for countering hybrid attacks during elections, and more.
Recall that the Institute for Public Environment Development officially became part of the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) network in September, 2024.
