Together with our partners from the Roma-Lom Foundation, we supported the initiative of local young people and volunteers who aim to establish a shelter for homeless animals in Lom, providing the necessary care for abandoned dogs within the municipality. In this regard, last week in Lom, we held a meeting with local activists and, together with them, discussed specific steps to help them interact with local authorities.
In this regard, last week we held a meeting with local activists in Lom and discussed specific steps to help them interact with local authorities to resolve the issue. The young people presented their plan and the data they have collected so far.
Earlier this week, the youth group and the Roma-Lom Foundation team held a follow-up working meeting with the relevant representatives of the municipal administration. The municipality committed to actively participating in solving the problem by planning a campaign to neuter as many animals as possible. The young people’s efforts are a wonderful example of cooperation between active citizens and local authorities.
The support for this initiative is part of IPED’s efforts to promote transparency, dialogue, and citizen engagement in small towns in Bulgaria.
