The Institute for Public Environment Development (IPED) has submitted a set of questions to the Presidential Administration addressed to the candidates for membership in the Central Election Commission (CEC), proposing that they be discussed during the public hearing scheduled for 12 June 2026.
The questions focus on key issues related to the transparency, accountability, and effectiveness of the electoral administration. They address, among other topics, increasing the openness of CEC meetings and activities, the timely publication of agendas and decisions, the standardization of complaint and signal registers, and the need for greater transparency in the allocation and spending of media package funds.
IPED also raises questions concerning the development of the Commission’s expert capacity, including the establishment of a specialized unit on machine voting responsible for producing public analyses and recommendations, as well as the creation of a dedicated training unit for members of тthe precinct election commissions. Another important topic is the need for broader and more effective voter information and awareness campaigns.
Through these questions, IPED aims to encourage a public discussion on the priorities for the future work of the Central Election Commission and to seek commitments from the candidates regarding greater transparency, professionalism, and accountability in the work of the electoral administration. Such commitments are essential for strengthening the public trust in the electoral process.
