The institute for public environment development conducted an independent observation of the municipal elections in Kustendil
On the 13th of May, 2012 the Institute for Public Environment Development observed the partial local elections in Kustendil. 15 independent observers, trained by the Institute’s experts monitored the work of the polling stations, located in the city.
For the first time in Bulgarian elections an independent team of observers shared the picture of the election process in real time through the social networks Twitter and Facebook. All the data from the social Media related to electoral violations was collected and published on a specially developed by the Institute website - www.votebuying.izborenkodeks.com.
The Institute for Public Environment Development is registered as an organization, which can monitor the elections by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Bulgaria. The election observation was supported by the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation and by the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe.
